KLISHESIMA PARTE 2

Usei poliestireno extrudido, vulgo Roofmate, cartão e balsa para a construção da maqueta. De momento pesa entre 1.50 e 2.00kgs. Tentei o formato clássico de maqueta aberta, para poupar no peso. Mas isto não me resolve o problema pó, transporte e arrumação da maqueta. Levei algum tempo a aceitar o óbvio, ter de a encerrar numa caixa. As dúvidas persistiam, o bom ritmo perdeu-se e o entusiasmo esmoreceu um pouco.

Procuro planear as maquetas ao pormenor, elaborar lista das características, recolher referencias e fazer muitos esquissos. Depois passo para a fase das compras para ter tudo à mão. Mesmo assim surgem imprevistos. E durante a fase de construção não hesito em mudar se contribuir para melhorar a maqueta. Acresce que ainda estou na fase de exploração da construção de maquetas sem a tradicional base em madeira.
Aquilo que agora apresento já é velho, de há um ano. Espero em breve retomar o trabalho, optando pela famigerada caixa iluminada. O projecto está praticamente a 75%.

Used insulation foam, cardboard and balsa for the layout basic construction.

So far it weighs between 1.5kg and 2.00kg. I tried a traditional approach with an open layout to spare weight, but the cardboard backdrop was a flop. Besides this type of layout is exposed to dust, hard to store and fragile to transport. It took me a while to accept the obvious. I had to build a boxed diorama. The doubts persisted, the rhythm was gone and the enthusiasm died out.
I try to plan the layouts to the minimal detail, make a list of desired characteristics I want to incorporate, only then I start the design. Next step is the shopping list. This order of planning avoids I buy things I don’t need or get stuck with things that turn out no longer make sense in the story I want to tell.
It can happen changes in the plan during construction. I don’t have patience for mock-ups, although they can be handy. I shifted recently to layouts on insulation foam without open frame or plywood slab, I’m still discovering the best way to deal with this material.
This step-by-step is already 1 year old, I hope to start again as the project is 75% of accomplishment.

O MATERIAL JAPONÊS, ESSE DESCONHECIDO…

Os veículos Tomytec que comprei são já velhinhos, estão esgotados e nem sei se voltarão a ser produzidos. Os moldes são satisfatórios, a mecânica impecável, mas não têm iluminação como o material da Kato, por exemplo.

As estruturas Tomytec e Kato já vêm pintadas. As da GreenMax são kits como estamos habituados.

Japanese trains, those unknow stuff…

The Tomytec trams I bought are old generation moulds. They’re sold out and I suspect it will take a while to come back. Tomytec keeps on introducing rolling stock looking better and better. Still no lighting, unlike Kato for instance. The structures from Tomytec and Kato come already painted. Greenmax commercialises kits in the way we’re used to see. I also bought one laser-cut kit from Sankei. Easy to build, looking very convincing except the roof that is just a 2D print of Japanese tiles.

GABARIT

O gabarit japonês difere dos nossos. Vejo com frequência o uso do escantilhão da NMRA americano, assumo que o gabarit é idêntico.

The Japanese gabarit is different from the European. I often see on photos the NMRA gabarit being used, so they must be the same.

TEMA

Despertou-me o interesse pelas vias rurais japonesas pelas dimensões do material, que permitem maquetas pequenas credíveis. O exotismo do tema e a diversidade de oferta R-T-R.

I got interested by the rural lines for the dimension of the rolling stock and by the widespread use of single track. I believe curves can be sharp in reality. So all ingredients for believable small layouts are there.

MOTORIZAÇÃO, PANTÓGRAFOS E WEATHERING

A mudança do chassis estático para o motorizado faz-se sem parafusos ou grandes trabalhos. O encaixe é perfeito. O pantógrafo é colado com umas gotas de cianocrilato.

The assembly of the motorized chassis is very easy, no screws or special skills. The panto is just glued with some frops of cyano.
